APNT Sports Injuries and Massage Diploma
The Sports Injuries and Massage Diploma is an essential course for completion for any student looking to embark upon a course in sports therapy. It covers areas from the fundamentals of massage techniques to more specialised techniques such as deep tissue massage.
The course is an intensive course and students obtaining the diploma will have the knowledge and confidence to treat a variety of sporting injuries.

Course Content

  • Regional anatomy -The study of anatomy based on regions of the body and the relationships between these various structures.
  • Applied anatomy - the practical application of anatomical knowledge to diagnosis and treatment.
  • The general and specific benefits of sports massage
  • Origins, insertions and actions of 45 muscles in all areas of the body.
  • Regional injuries - study of common sporting injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, bursa and bone and specific tests for each.
  • Treatment - incorporation of learned massage techniques and their applications in treating various sporting injuries.
  • Pre, post and maintenance sports massage routines.
  • Awareness of cautions and contraindications of massage.
Assessment
  • Practical Test
  • Theory Test
  • 6 Case Studies within a 6 month period after the 2 tests
Once Qualified
  • A member of the APNT and a recognised sports massage qualification.
  • Ability to start your own business.
  • Able to treat patients with insurance.
  • Carry on further study as a Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Osteopath etc.
  • Call yourself a 'sports therapist'.
